Hi Everyone,

I thought I had better take the plunge and make the fist post in the forum!

The site has only been up and running a couple of months and we have 27 WSA1 owners registered. Not many you might think but it is a rare synth so 27 active owners is good going when you consider that the website hasn't been advertised and it was only submitted to Google a few weeks ago.

All the WSA1 guys I've had a chat to are a friendly bunch so I hope you will make some intros here, get to know each other and share info.

You can attach files to posts here but if you have any problems let me know and I'll fix them. Not all filetypes are enabled, I have to allow them in the back end of the site so if your upload fails it might be a type I haven't come across before. Just fill in the contact form or reply to this post.

I want to let you know about a pretty amazing little Midiplayer program available free from Falcosoft:

Link to Falcosoft Free Midi player

This player has a wealth of features that are not immediately apparent, please make sure you read the readme file. The player is tiny and needs no installation, you could just put it on a USB stick as I do and take it with you anywhere. Perfect for doing a demo at someone else's studio!

The developer has incorporated quite a few features that are specific to the later Technics keyboards, such NX Sound support. We're really interested to hear about features that would be useful for you and any thoughts that you have about the program.

At the moment a function is being developed that will allow you to save your patches straight into the MIDI file. This would mean that WSA1 owners can select patches on the synth, save the MIDI file and the next time you play it your settings for WSA1 are still there. The program is bi-directional, so, when you select a sound on your board Midiplayer receives your patch change and displays the Program, MSB and LSB.

If any tweaking is needed in order to support WSA1 better (or any keyboards), or if you think of anything that would be beneficial to the program, just let us know because Zoltan is keen to support users and improve the program!

Apart from that, what kit do you have and what are you up to lately?!

Cheers,
Mike

Re: Welcome, introductions and software News

Hello everyone,
it's my first post here (I registered ten minutes ago) and I hope it's not in the wrong place.
You're free to delete, or put it in another topic.
My name is Marco, I write from Italy. I'38. I'm a jazz pianist and organist.
I'm a Wsa owner (the keyboard, not the rack).
In my life I owned also a Technics kn600 and a kn2000, but I haven't them more.
This Wsa was a dream, I remember late 90s ads when I had kn2000, I dreamed of it but I could never see or play one!
It was also very expensive...
Some months ago, I was able to find one Wsa sold by another italian guy.
I was very happy, my dream was coming true!
It has a very nice and playable keybed, very different from kn2000's.
Its sounds remember a lot kn2000 samples, but the full synthesis chain (and a filter section, that missed on kn2000) permit to change ed evolve them. Results are very good, very actual: we are speaking of a 20-years-old-keyboard!
I have (Wsa1 has) problems with some sounds: in the lower octave they become very distorted.
I'd like to better describe this issue, but I don't think it's the right post. I'll open a thread, eventually.
Now, I thank you for attention, and I make my compliments for your idea of creating a Technics keyboards site.
I'm very happy to have found Technics users!
Sorry for my english, sure I made lots of syntax errors, but I usually prefer write in English and not use google translator.
Nice music to everyone!

Marco

Re: Welcome, introductions and software News

HI Marco and Welcome!

The Tones on WSA are somewhere between KN2000 and KN3000. I agree that the keybed is excellent. It is interchangeable with KN3000, with the addition of some small components. I know this because our friendly engineer Dave Tutt recently repaired two WSA1s for me.

I've upgraded your account to WSA1 Verified Owner so you can access some additional downloads now.

Unfortunately my day job is extremely busy recently, giving me less time to participate here temporarily but we have some very knowledgeable Members who can hopefully help with your query.

Pleased to meet you... and your English is excellent, we can understand you very well.

Best wishes,
Mike

I accidentally made my post from an administrative account. I'm replying again in order to give you the correct forum link in your inbox smiling

Re: Welcome, introductions and software News

Thank you for fast (very fast) reply, and for admitting me to advanced users.
I downloaded Wsa service manual and I'll try some check functions.
It seems that I have to build a simply electric apparatus with a led to monitor some components.
This will be a problem, because me and electricity seem to live on different planets... sad
As soon as I'll have tried self-diagnosis, I'll open a thread.
Best regards
