Re: WSA1 Article - Spectrum Analysis of the Resonators

Hi John, Yes I agree, the Drivers are analogous to the Tones on the KN's. Haven't ever really used a KN7000 though, I've just read through the manual.

FM is an interesting topic, I wrote a programming guide last year for the Yamaha FM synths which …

Re: WSA1 Article - Spectrum Analysis of the Resonators

Hi Javelin276, As you are aware my main field of expertise is in sound editing with the KN and organ ranges so the article (you shared the link) is most interesting and informative and unless I have missed it the reference to Drivers as comparable to the …

WSA1 Article - Spectrum Analysis of the Resonators

Hi Guys,
I just posted an article on my website detailing the Modeling section of the synth, with an emphasis on the Resonator settings.
I've used a spectrum analyzer to see what is actually going on inside the section to determine how it works.
I just…

Re: Hi Guys

Hello all,

Re: PC Editor

Excellent! Glad to hear it.
Any ideas on what the initial sysex block they loaded in is for?
I'm guessing the block loads in data to reset the machine and loads in a custom setup at the same time.
I didn't see a reset command anywhere in the mid…

Re: PC Editor

Here are the commands in the sysex block. Be aware, my editing program takes the F0 off the front.
The block is probably a bulk dump (to the WSA1) of a custom voice, you can pick through the commands
and figure out what it does using the manual.

Re: PC Editor

OK, try this. Load up a WSA1 demo midi file from the original disks into a midi file editor and dig through the file looking for a block of
sysex set up commands. There should be something in there to select instrument voices and set up the effects un…

Re: PC Editor

The WSA1 is more like the KN3000 than the KN2000, it uses up to 4 Tones per sound where the KN2000 only uses 3 Tones and the 3rd is called sub tone and is ommited if the voice polyphony is exceeded. Do you need a copy of the the midi data for the KN3000, …
